What an amazing world in which we live. A world filled with possibilities with new beginnings, new challenges, and always new technologies!

I am pleased to announce the opening of our new design center in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada!!! For you Americans that don't know Canadian geography, Waterloo is near Toronto (OK, also near New York State :-) and is home to Canada's equivalent to MIT and my alma mater, the University of Waterloo. Nuvation's Waterloo office will both extend our client design services capabilities and expand our line of licensable FPGA IP cores. As this article is being published, our new GM of Canadian Operations, Alex Leyn and I are in Waterloo getting the office ready for a Sept 1 grand opening.

This has been a record first-half for Nuvation -- even bigger than we were in the 90's heydays -- so we are grateful for the expansion team and to everyone that has helped make this happen. Thank you to our many wonderful clients, employees, investors and partners for making this all possible!

I want to bring your attention to one of Nuvation's charitable causes, Hike for a Cure, which is coming up on September 19th at Half Dome in Yosemite. This will be our fourth annual hike, and we are targeting to have 200 hikers and raise $100k for funding research for a cure to Histiocytosis. My nephew, Anton, was unfortunately born with this rare white blood cell disease. Treated with chemotherapy at three months old, he is thankfully now in remission. I invite you to join this amazing quest as each year we hike to raise funds and awareness for a cure for all the families fighting this disease! We invite your sponsorship and welcome all to join us for this special event. Please email me personally if you can contribute and/or contact colleen@hikeforacure.com to register for the hike.

This newsletter looks at many new and expanding technologies including Advanced TCA and the growing trend of implementing DSP algorithms in an FPGA. In our Signal Integrity corner we look at methods and techniques for designing high-speed traces. Our device of the month is the new compact, feature-rich, and extremely fast NIOS II embedded processor.

Thanks for your interest in Nuvation and for taking the time to read our newsletter. It's truly amazing to have such a powerful extended Nuvation family!
