Welcome to the winter 2008 edition of Nuvation’s CURRENT! Nuvation gained a lot of great new clients and partner programs in 2007 and finished the year with record results. We are particularly proud of the positive feedback from our clients and the repeat business you entrust to us.
In the past quarter, Nuvation has undertaken a wide array of cutting edge projects ranging from a power subsystem for solar farms, a revolutionary dental instrument, and high definition video security designs.
In this issue of Nuvation’s CURRENT, we shed some light on new technologies that we are excited to share. Faisal Ali, a design engineer with expertise in FPGAs, kicks off the issue, with a platform independent evaluation of the ARM Cortex-M1 processor. As a leading design firm with deep experience in embedded processors, we decided to evaluate the new M1. We also shed light on recently introduced technologies that we are excited about including the TI DaVinci™ 6467 processor, the low-cost TI DM355 processor core, Sigma VXP™ technology, and the Xilinx Microblaze™ for MMU.
In addition, at TI's Developer Conference last month, Nuvation announced four new video reference designs
based on TI's DaVinci™ Technology. The new designs include the IP Camera PoE (Power-over-Ethernet), an Intelligent Video Server (IVS), a Scalable Video Platform (SVP), and a Multichannel Video Front End (McVFE).
The reference designs will be demonstrated at the upcoming International Security Conference-West (April 2-4, Las Vegas) at booth #19143, as well as the Embedded Systems Conference (April 14-18, San Jose) in the TI Pavilion, booth #1708 G, and at NAB in Las Vegas (April 14-17). Be sure to come see these video products in action. Please get in touch with your Nuvation representative to schedule meeting times for any of these events.
As you may know, Nuvation also opened a Shanghai Design Center in China, in December 2007, augmenting our US and Canadian design centers with offshore capabilities, design localization for offshore manufacturing, dedicated Offshore Design Center (ODC) offerings, and access to the growing Chinese marketplace.
To meet our growth plans, Nuvation is looking for seasoned talent and gifted individuals to join our world-class design teams in San Jose, California, Waterloo Canada, and Shanghai, China. With an opportunity to work on leading-edge products across a range of applications, from consumer electronics to communications, our people are always developing new skills. Our environment here at Nuvation is dynamic & fast-paced, but we have a lot of fun along the way (experience with nerf guns, BattleBots and balcony BBQs not required, on the job training will be available). If you know great engineers who may be looking for a new home, point them to our careers page for a list of opportunities currently available.
Hope all of you are enjoying great successes, personally and professionally, and we look forward to a great new year together.
Many Thanks,
Michael Worry
Nuvation CEO
